Aging Younger SPF (sun protection factor)

The SPF (sun protection factor) of a sunscreen is a laboratory measure of its effectiveness. The higher the SPF, the more protection a sunscreen offers against the Ultraviolet type B radiation that causes sunburn. For example SPF 15 means that a user can nominally remain in the sun 15 times longer than would otherwise cause them to have sunburn. Titanium dioxide blocks the UVA and the UVB sunrays. UVB is the burning rays and the UVA are the skin sagging, wrinkle causing and cancer causing sunrays.

The SPF is an imperfect measurement of skin damage, because invisible damage and skin aging is also caused by the very common Ultraviolet type A, which does not cause reddening, or pain. Some broad-spectrum sunscreens do provide significant UVA protection. Take notice  below as to the two that have the greatest ratings: Titanium dioxide – up to 25 percent and Zinc oxide – up to 25 percent; From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.Due to consumer confusion over the real degree and duration of protection offered labeling restrictions are in force in several countries. In the United States in 1999 the FDA decided to institute the labeling of SPF 30+ for sunscreens offering more protection, and a similar restriction applies in Australia. This was done to discourage companies making unrealistic claims about the level of protection offered e.g “all day protection”, and because an SPF over 30 does not provide significantly better protection. The following are the FDA allowable active ingredients in sunblocks:

  1. p-Aminobenzoic acid (PABA) – up to 15 percent.

  2. Avobenzone – up to 3 percent.

  3. Cinoxate – up to 3 percent.

  4. Dioxybenzone – up to 3 percent.

  5. Homosalate – up to 15 percent.

  6. Menthyl anthranilate – up to 5 percent.

  7. Octocrylene – up to 10 percent.

  8. Octyl methoxycinnamate – up to 7.5 percent.

  9. Octyl salicylate – up to 5 percent.

  10. Oxybenzone – up to 6 percent.

  11. Padimate O – up to 8 percent.

  12. Phenylbenzimidazole sulfonic acid – up to 4 percent.

  13. Sulisobenzone – up to 10 percent.

  14. Titanium dioxide – up to 25 percent.

  15. Trolamine salicylate – up to 12 percent.

  16. Zinc oxide – up to 25 percent.

HOW TO HEAL YOUR GUT NATURALLY

Did you know that the health of your large intestine is reflected in the health of your skin? Your large intestine and skin are organs that interact with the environment. They both absorb and emit chemicals, water, and other metabolic products. The large intestine is the body’s largest internal organ; its purpose is to absorb food, nutrients and water. The function of the skin is to hold not only all of your other organs, tissues, capillaries and muscles in place, but also to allow your body to breathe. It is a respiration organ it both inhales and exhales.
